Legislation Standardization Act
to standardize the format and qualities of Kantrian legislation for common easy understanding and reference.

Article I – Legislation Design
Section I – Layout
a.) The Identification Number of all legislation must be shown first and foremost. This defines the type of legislation presented and what number of that type it is.
b.) Underneath the Identification Number will be the regional coat of arms as defined in the Armorial Act.
c.) Underneath the coat of arms, a short title, in bold, must be placed.
d.) Underneath the short title a preamble is to be allowed to define the purpose of the legislation in no more than two (2) sentences.
e.) Underneath the preamble will be two (2) horizontal lines stacked above one another.
f.) Underneath the horizontal lines and short title, will be listed the writer(s) and presenter if applicable.
g.) Underneath the writer(s) and sponsor will be two (2) horizontal lines stacked above one another.
h.) Underneath the horizontal lines following the writer(s) and presenter may be the Interpretations Section. This shall serve to interpret any potentially misleading words, phrases, or sentences included in the legislation. This section is not compulsory.
j.) Underneath the Interpretations Section must be the body of the legislation which shall contain all information relating to the legislation. This does not include the Enactment Article.
k.) Underneath the body of the legislation shall be the Enactment Article if applicable. This article shall include details on the enactment of the legislation and any other relevant details.
Section II – Structure
a.) This section comprises the structure included in the body of the legislation.
b.) The structure shall be as shown:
i. Article
ii. Section
iii. Clause
iv. Sub-clause
c.) The above shown structure, when used in legislation, does not have to include all the listed codes. But whatever codes are used must be used in the appropriate order.
Section III - Format
a.) All presented legislation must use Trebuchet MS.
b.) All parts of the legislation above the short title must be right aligned. The title, preamble, presenter, and authors must be centered. The rest of the legislation must be left aligned.
c.) When stating there is a new article, the first letter of the word article must be a capital letter and the number of the article must be stated using Roman numerals.
d.) When stating there is a new section, the first letter of the word section must be a capital letter and the number of the section must be stated using Roman numerals.
e.) All clauses must be shown by a lower case letter followed by a full stop and a closing curved bracket.
i. The letter "i" may not be used to show a clause to prevent confusion with any sub-clauses.
f.) All sub-clauses must be shown by a Romanette numeral followed by a full stop.
i. There may not be any clauses inferior to a sub-clause, this is to be the furthest any topic is sub divided.
g.) When amending previously enacted legislation, added in punctuation, words, phrases, or sentences must be coloured green. Removed punctuation, words, phrases or sentences must be coloured red with a strike through the removed part: Adding in |Removed
i. A version free of displayed corrections may be provided in the law library upon passage along side the marked amendment.
h.) The author of the legislation must be shown. Should the author not be an active Senator then the sponsoring Senator's name must also be included.
i. "Written by" and "Presented by" shall be bolded in the section above the body of the document.
ii. The names following shall receive no emphasis.
j.) Should a number be contained within the text of the legislation, it shall be stated in words first; then within parentheses in Arabic numerals: sixty (60).
k.) The whole piece of legislation shall be within quotes.
l.) All clauses must be spaced above and below with the exception of sub-clauses, which must have no spaces above.
Article II - Content
Section I – Grammar
a.) Unless stated otherwise in this act, throughout the legislation correct English grammar must be used.
b.) General English must be used in legislation.
c.) "The" should never be used in the title of legislation.
Article III - Enactment
Section I
a.) The rules contained in this act will apply to all legislation binding and non-binding proposed to the Kylian Assembly.
b.) This act shall not affect any legislation passed before this act's own passage.
i. Any legislation still under consideration at the time of this law's passage shall comply with its contents.
c.) This Act demonstrates all requirements in its own construction and may be used as a general template.
d.) Any characteristics of this document exhibited, though not explicitly cited are still to be adhered to where it may be practical.
e.) No legislation should cover topics outside the scope of it's own topic or purpose.
