Dissolution and General Elections
After the Dissolution of Parliament, His Majesty issued the Writ of Elections. With seven seats available and twelve candidates, these were one of the most contested elections in regional history. In the end, the British Worker's Party (BWP) triumphed winning all seven seats, while the DUP and the CNA remained without seats. James Somerset was sequentially elected as Prime Minister.
Opening of Parliament and Address in Reply
Soon after the end of the elections, His Majesty appointed, during the ceremony of the Kissing of the Hands, James Somerset, as Leader of the BWP, Prime Minister-Designate. Then His Majesty travelled to the Palace of Westminster to open the Parliament by reading the following speech:
My Lords and Members of the House of Commons,
My government will pursue a substantial legislative regimen to further grow our community and level up citizen engagement and experience.
My government shall review and expand on our diplomatic ties while seeking new relationships to further strengthen our international image and presence.
My government shall continue to manage the economy in a way that is fiscally responsible while seeking public input on economic initiatives and policies.
My government shall ensure transparency and accountability in its interactions with the public and in release of information on a weekly basis.
My government shall encourage the viability of the education system and reevaluate the welcoming processes for new citizens coming to our Realm.
My government shall review and issue Executive Orders for the effectiveness, clarity and efficiency of government operations.
My government will foster and maintain activity to combat the summer activity slump and curb inactivity.
My government will protect, nurture, and ensure the general welfare of the Empire for our prosperity and posterity.
Members of the House of Commons, estimates for the public services will be laid before you.
My Lords and Members of the House of Commons, other measures will be laid before you.
I pray that the blessing of Almighty God may rest upon your counsels.
God Save the King!
After the Opening, the Lords and Members of the Parliament started the Address in Reply, at the end of which James Somerset received strong confidence and became officially the new Prime Minister.
